Delete Your Account

We're sorry to see you go. Follow the steps below to permanently delete your Told Me account and data.

Important: This Action Cannot Be Undone

Deleting your account will permanently remove:

  • All your recommendations and notes
  • All recommender information you've added
  • Your custom categories and settings
  • Your account history and timeline
  • Any photos you've uploaded

We strongly recommend exporting your data before deletion. You can export your data from the app: Settings > Data Management > Export Data.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: Delete from the App Recommended

If you have the Told Me app installed:

  1. Open the Told Me app
  2. Go to Settings (tap your profile icon)
  3. Navigate to Data Management
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Follow the confirmation prompts

Your account and all data will be deleted immediately.

Option 2: Contact Us Directly

If you don't have access to the app or prefer to contact us directly:

  1. Send an email to contact@toldmeto.com
  2. Include "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line
  3. Provide your account email address in the body of the email
  4. We'll process your request within 7 business days

What Happens After Deletion?

  • Immediate: Your account and data are deleted from our active servers
  • Within 30 days: All backup copies are permanently removed
  • Retained for legal compliance: Anonymized subscription transaction records may be retained for tax purposes as required by law (typically 7 years), but these records will not contain any personal information or recommendation data

Active Subscriptions

If you have an active subscription, please cancel it before deleting your account:

  • iOS: Settings app > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > Told Me > Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > Told Me > Cancel Subscription

Note: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel your subscription separately through the App Store or Google Play Store to avoid future charges.
